Leitaria has history since 1920
To get to know the origin of Leitaria da Quinta do Paço, we need to go back to the beginning of the 20th century. Its original location was in Paços de Ferreira – about 35 km away from Porto – and its name comes from there.
In 1920, Leitaria da Quinta do Paço begins the production of milk, butter, cheese and chantilly. Back then, established itself as the first company of the industry to distribute pasteurised milk in glass bottles, at a time in which the distribution was made in jugs that the sellers of Porto carried on their heads. Year after year, it has gained reputation and imposed the quality of its products, which has kept until today. The salted butter sold by weight in vegetable paper packages is still a classic, in addition to the cheese and chantilly. Indeed, the chantilly quickly gained unprecedented fame. Sold at the counter in wax paper bags, it was in the fifties the protagonist of what would become the brand’s ex-libris: The éclair with chocolate icing. The constant quality, and the daily production always fresh and limited to the available stock, confirm a success story.
The history of Leitaria da Quinta do Paço started in Porto, in 1920, with the production of milk and dairy products. Today, our traditional products, such as chantilly, butter and cheese, are still sold by weight. Nevertheless, it is because of its artisanal and daily pastry that the Leitaria is better known.
